Jan has been a librarian for over 40 years. Her career as an author began when she attended a writing seminar at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC. After the seminar she began to write articles for newspapers and educational journals. Her first book for children, Rope Burn, was published in 1998. Jan's novels for kids have been named to numerous award lists.
Jan enjoys connecting with her readers through school and library visits. Jan lives with her husband, Jim, in East Aurora, New York. She enjoys time with family, hiking, travel and "doing time" with a good book.
